How it works

ESIC status

Early Stage Innovation Company status gives investors a 20% tax offset and CGT concessions, often the difference between a maybe and a yes. The ESIC screen walks the two statutory tests (the points test and the principles test) and a director attests the outcome. Eligibility is tested when shares are issued, not when the offer goes out. On a SAFE or convertible note the badge reads intended at conversion: no shares are issued until it converts, the offset attaches on the conversion date, and the company is tested in that income year. Converted shares appear in the ATO report for the year they convert, at the amount applied. Struck is not a registered tax or BAS agent: the wizard structures the tests and shows the director every entered and derived input before they attest, the ATO report exports only after the company reviews and verifies its rows, and Struck never says whether a particular company is eligible.
