How it works
Licensing and authority
Running a raise for a company is a financial service even when every investor is wholesale: the s708 exemptions remove the disclosure document, not the licence. An advisory firm records its AFSL, or its CAR authorisation under a principal's AFSL, once on the Licensing screen, and that one record covers every raise the firm advises. Founders raising for their own company do not need one (the s766C(4) self-dealing carve-out). The record also carries the firm's AUSTRAC enrolment and its AML/CTF compliance officer, because a firm running raises has been a reporting entity since 1 July 2026, and the licence or representative number is checked against ASIC's published register on every save.
