How it works
Start here: the files investors read first
Start here sits at the top of the dataroom and holds the few files the deal team wants every investor to read first, in the team's order, each with an optional one-line note saying why. While it is empty, the deal team sees a prompt at the top of the room: choose Choose files to pick from every file in the room, or later use Add files beside the heading. A file's own menu in the folders also has Add to Start here, and so does the bar that appears when you select several files. Up to 10 files fit, so it stays a short list. Each card in Start here has a menu to add or edit its note, move it earlier or later, or take it off. A file in Start here stays in its folder and keeps that folder's access: an investor only sees the files in Start here that they can already open, and one behind the NDA stays hidden until they accept it. The first time an investor opens the room, they see Start here on its own, with a Browse the whole room button for everything else. Once they have opened a file, the room opens in full with Start here above it. Anyone who knows the list by heart can choose Condense beside the heading to fold Start here to one line, with each file still one click away as a numbered chip; Show brings it back, and the room remembers the choice.
